Programming Note

Friends,

Over the next week or so I will be traveling on business and unable to write. That said, please enjoy the articles in the archive at your leisure.

Before I go though, I wanted to share this video with you. On my return, we will be only a few weeks away from spring, and ready to get back at it outdoors here in the NorthEast of the US.

For those who have been "hibernating" all winter ... are you ready to go? What is your training plan?

Remember, it is never too late to train and be ready for what is fast approaching. Remember, Get your a$$ out there... ?

For me, I continue to take solace in my trainers wisdom that big gains are made in the winter, when others are letting their bikes collect dust.

Words to live by.

  1. Peter,

I'm sure you have heard of the call against MU in their game vs Real Madrid recently. The winner went to the Quarters in the Champion League. Is this not a great learning tool for ALL referees? I saw the play and from the TV angle it was CLEARLY NOT a foul. It was 2 players looking at the high ball and colliding. The red card given had alot to do with MU LOSING millions of dollars and Real with a chance to bring in millions. The CL tourney can mean a profit or loss for the year for many of the participants.

#1 how could 4 fifa referees not get this right? Was it the angle of view (Bob Evans video) that the CR not have? Was it an AR giving his opinion from his angle? Where was the CR at the point of collision?
#2 decisions can mean MILLIONS of dollars.
#3 Referees HAVE to get it right!

I have seen this play many times as you have. How could we miss it?

I say its a great learning tool because of the incredible effect it will have on a team.

I have gone long on this and I apologized. Its just that the game is SO IMPORTANT that referees got to get it right. Henry's hand ball goal sending Ireland crashing out of WC qualifying is another incident of tremendous importance.

Thanks for listening. Best of luck in your endeavors.

    Great comments.

I have been following this one and will have comments in kind in the days ahead as (as you can imagine) things are still swirling.
