    In Mass a bill has been introduced one and over for a few years, the most current bill introduced in 2012 was H2856. This proposed bill read as follows;

    "SECTION 1.

    Chapter 265 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 13D½ the following section: — Section 13D½. Whoever commits an assault upon a sports official within the confines or immediate vicinity of the athletic facility at which the athletic contest in which said official officiated shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than two and one-half years in a house of correction or by a fine of not more than ten thousand dollars."

    Sadly after being reported out of committee along with a host of other non-related bills died with no further action taken on 01/20/13.

    Not sure if it has been re-submitted for this session or not, I'll check.
